Rosario Rodriguez is a Guatemalan-American immigrant filmmaker based in New York. Inspired by her Chapina (Guatemalan) culture, she is passionate about using film to amplify underrepresented voices and bring greater representation to the screen.
She began her filmmaking journey in 2017 at the Manhattan Film Institute, where she directed her first short film and later served as a staff member until 2022. as a graduate of SUNY Oneonta with a degree in Mass Communications, Rosario has since built a strong foundation across pre-production, production, and post-production, contributing to a wide range of feature films, music videos, short films and commercials and branded content.
In 2019, she co-directed and co-produced En Mi Camino, a crowdfunded documentary series created in partnership with the nonprofit Yuntos. The series offers a powerful look into the lives of Guatemalans in Central America and reflects Rosario’s deep commitment to community-driven storytelling.
As a first-generation immigrant from a humble background, Rosario brings both technical expertise and lived experience to every set. Her work is defined by a collaborative spirit, a strong visual sensibility, and an unwavering dedication to using film as a tool for impact and inclusion.
She is currently available for directing, cinematography, and producing roles across scripted and unscripted formats.
